Preparation Overview

This program provides leaders with specific tools and tactics for establishing themselves in their new roles and for quickly achieving results. Intended for new and experienced leaders – from team and functional managers through more seasoned executives, this program is available as either a daylong training program or as four hours of individual coaching.  Both versions are designed to have an immediate, practical impact.

Based upon the work of Drs. Edward and Nila Betof, this workshop provides field-tested methods discussed in their highly acclaimed book, Just Promoted!  A 12-Month Road Map for Success in Your New Leadership Role.   Program content, activities, and tools will help new leaders to transition into their leadership roles quickly and successfully. Experienced leaders will find the program’s tips and tools useful in coaching direct reports in their assumption of new job responsibilities.

Prior to attending the workshop, participants complete a brief assessment of their influence styles.  Assessment results are then shared and discussed during the workshop.

Program topics include:

  • clarifying must-do priorities and plans for attaining them;

  • obtaining useful information from predecessors and others;

  • concluding previous relationships effectively;

  • introducing yourself to your new team;

  • building productive partnerships with key stakeholders;

  • assessing your team and its members;

  • clarifying team vision;

  • Recognizing cultural considerations.

Within three months of the program’s conclusion, participants will have received three hours of phone-based coaching from the workshop leader.  Coaching will assist participants in applying workshop tools and tactics to their own unique work situations.

This workshop is intended for new and experienced leaders who are about to assume, or who have recently assumed, a new leadership role or position. Ideally, participants will be assuming those new roles approximately one month before or shortly following this workshop.
